| The
Steeple Goes Up on 12/22/99

Our steeple sat on
the ground for a few days as we waited for the crane, the cherry
picker and a calm day.
| The steeple raising crew arrived early. By
eight o'clock the base was attached and the belfry was
on it way to the top.

The steeple began its trip to the top at 9:00 AM.
The construction crew has
the belfry leveled and the steeple is dropped gently into place. A
few bolts are tightened and we are ready for the Cross.

Fr. Roger, dressed
warmly in Earle's coat, decides he will personally supervise the
Cross's trip to the top.

Father Roger opted not
to take a generously offered parachute. He did agree to safety
strapping.
It is a quick trip up.
There were a few pauses to look at the Derry countryside. The
Cross is attached with modern technology and a blessing.

It is 10:30 AM on
Wednesday, December 22, 1999. Welcome to Holy Cross.
