On Tuesday, September 14, 1999, we officially broke ground for our new Church. Bishop Christian, Monsignor Quinn and Father Roger all participated in the ceremony. Sister Jackie who started the original Holy Cross Mission was there to lend a hand on a shovel.

We could have really used all those shovels during the past couple of weeks as the ledge was being blasted. As Father Roger says, we are building this Church on solid rock.

The sky was cloudy and the rain was coming but we had time for one last picture opportunity. The hats were passed out, the shovels were given to kids who knew how to use them and the cameras (35mm, Instamatics, automatics, digital, et al) got their last shots in. It was a great afternoon, an afternoon we have worked hard to see for over 10 years. Thanks to all of you, we are on our way.
