Parish Picnic - 2004

On June 6 we had a great parish picnic and surprise birthday party for Father Roger.

The Operation Yard Sale crew put the surprise party together.

The food crew put the picnic together and the food on the tables.

The staff made sure they stayed out of the way of the two committees that put this event together.
Our official Master of Ceremonies / Doctor of All Things Vocal kept the crowd entertained and Father Roger in his seat as we waited for the bearer of Father Roger's surprise.

The surprise bearer was gone quite a while. ...something about having to change into picnic attire...

The bearer of the gifts managed to find his shirt and the picnic. Our master of ceremonies finally got to the point, and Father Roger was toasted, lightly roasted, and thoroughly appreciated all afternoon.

Happy faces all around...

The cake was a work of art. Father Roger gave it a very close appraisal.

Our parish baker made sure everyone knew Father Roger's age...

Father Roger had plenty of  volunteers to help blow out the numerous candles...

Cutting the cake was a solo effort.

Congratulations, happy faces, and well wishes...

Grace and thanks were offered and the backyard feast began...

Proof positive that boys get older but do not grow up...

Holy Cross is blessed with families and friends...

While the adults enjoyed the food, the kids...
